10 Questions to Ask Before You Publish Your Writing

Everyone wants their writing to be read, shared, and read again.

To arrive at that point, you need to ask yourself questions that make your writing clearer to the reader. You need to ask questions that interrogate the strength of your writing.

Before I publish my writing, I ask ten questions that show if my writing is actually valuable or if I just think it’s valuable.

Here are the ten questions you should be asking before you publish your writing.

1. Am I showing or telling the reader?

Telling the reader to write clearly isn’t helpful unless you’re showing them as well.

Here are the best ways I like to show the reader:

  • Get specific with numbers
  • Share visual copywriting examples
  • Use strong verbs
  • Paint an image in the reader’s mind (imagine if…)

2. What value am I giving the reader?

Your writing should have a single takeaway for readers.

You only need to solve one problem for readers. Don’t complicate it with complex…
