3 Tips for Getting Started as a Writer
Essential lessons I’ve learned about digital writing.
Starting is the hardest part of writing.
It feels overwhelming. Imperfection terrifies us to our core. We’re afraid of our work being judged. Perhaps it isn’t good enough.
I didn’t start writing online for these reasons. Then I reflected on what my life would look like in twenty years. My older self would regret never taking action.
So, I started writing a little bit each day.
Here are 3 tips if you want to start writing.
Write About What Captivates You
Writing is always easier when you’re writing about what excites you.
Don’t write about what other writers care about. Don’t write about stuff that you think will go viral.
Write about what you care about. Your interests. The stuff that gets you up in the morning. Because people can tell when you write stuff that excites you.
Write Consistently
Building a writing habit takes time.
The best way to do this is to write in an environment. Your bedroom. The library. Choose somewhere to build that helps you write your best.
