Writing is a chore if you never know what to write about.

Finding ideas makes writing easier. Following a routine makes writing easier. Consistency makes writing easier.

That’s why I do the same things every day as a writer. I commit to doing the same thing because I don’t want “no write days.” I want to commit to writing every day because I want to progress. I want to succeed. I want to strengthen my writing muscle.

Here are the 5 things I do every day to help me become a better writer.

1. Post on LinkedIn and Twitter

Posting on LinkedIn and Twitter helps me write bite-sized ideas that I can share with my network.

It’s my way of sharing with the world what I’m working on. I’m sharing my work and getting feedback. I don’t try to make it overly long. I like sharing something that fascinates me.

2. Write on Medium

Writing on Medium is my way of expanding those bite-sized ideas.

I work on my longer-form writing. It’s an exercise in practicing my explanations. I’m not only practicing consistency, I’m also practicing the art of writing.
