If you want to understand great copywriting, you need to study great copywriting.

For the last 6 years, I’ve studied the best and worst copywriting. I’ve made it my mission to understand why something works and why it’s awful. I want to know the difference so I can do my job better.

While I’ve learned a lot these last 6 years, here are the most important lessons that have stuck with me.

Be a storyteller

People are wired to stories.

Stories persuade people to take action. If you want to tell great stories, you need three things:

  1. Be specific
  2. Have a point
  3. Create characters

Know your ONE reader

Know who your ONE reader is before you embark on writing your copy.

Copywriting is designed for ONE reader to take action. You need to know your one readers:

  • Pain
  • Desire
  • Dream outcome

Frameworks guide your copywriting
