Nobody cares what you do. They care what you can do for them.

That’s what I’ve built my freelance marketing strategy on.

In 2019, I jumped into full-time freelancing after three attempts to enter nursing school. I had no idea what I was doing as a freelancer. I had no idea how to market myself — find clients, get paid, and become known for something.

I crashed and burned in my first go around as a freelancer. So I took a full-time job as a copywriter at a marketing agency. Learned everything about marketing while continuing to side hustle.

Then I jumped back into full-time freelancing in 2022 with a new marketing strategy.

Below are the five ways I’ve learned to market myself.

1. LinkedIn posting and engaging

For the past two months, I’ve posted on LinkedIn.

My LinkedIn strategy:

  • Post twice in the morning on Monday - Friday at 7:00 am and 10:00 am.
  • Post on Saturday and Sunday at 7:00 am
  • Use Buffer to schedule posts.
  • Engage for 1 hour in the morning and 1 hour in the afternoon by commenting on other posts.
