Last year, I decided to jump from ConvertKit to Substack.

I did it because of a single reason (or person) — Lenny Rachitsky, the person with the biggest business newsletter on Substack.

He has over 650,000 subscribers. He charges readers $15 a month to get access to his weekly articles — he’s converted enough readers to the paid plan to do well for himself.

I love his business model. And I eventually want to follow a similar path.

In the eight months I’ve written Substack I’ve learned a lot. Here’s everything I’ve learned.

Substack Has Awesome Recommendations

One of the best things I’ve noticed about Substack is that it has recommendations.

Since relocating to Substack, about 5+ other newsletters have recommended my newsletter, which is awesome. I think other newsletter platforms do this, but I never received the amount of recommendations I did until I switched to Substack.

It also helps that I’ve consistently posted on Substack every week without missing a week.

Some Things Are Hard to Figure Out
