How I Find Clients as a Freelance Copywriter

My simple strategy for putting in the work.

Finding your first freelance client is the best feeling ever.

You feel empowered. You feel like you can be your own boss. It is also one of the biggest milestones in your freelance journey.

But creating a system to find clients is the hard part. You need grit and determination. You need processes and systems.

I want to show what I do every day that has helped me find clients.

Search social media keywords

There are two keyword phrases I use on Twitter and on LinkedIn to look for people who posted jobs.

It’s either around “looking for a copywriter” or “hiring a copywriter.” I’ve had the best luck around them.

Below’s an example of a prolific creator I messaged on Twitter. I noticed in his post that he was looking for a copywriter. I sent him my work, leading to a series of interviews. While it didn’t work out, it gave me a great chance to meet a potential client.
