Research is an essential part of every copywriter’s journey.

You can’t write a framework without research. You can’t write copy without understanding your audience. And you can’t improve conversions if you don’t know where the audience is clicking.

The best copywriters don’t rely on cool techniques, they rely on data to maximize conversions.

It’s why the best healthcare and tech brands are leaning into the voice of the customer.

Why Data Matters

A few years ago, I invested in courses from CopyHackers. It’s the single greatest form of training I’ve ever received as a copywriter.

I learned how to take customer data from hours and hours of review mining, surveys, and interviews and write copy that didn’t sound fun and cozy.

I wrote something that came from the customer's mouth. What sounds best to customers is the words they say themselves.

In the example below, I took words from a customer review and rewrote the headline. It sounds like a customer and it speaks to the value of Headway.
