How to Diversify Your Freelance Income
How I’m diversifying my income and minimizing risk.
The freelance world is unforgiving.
In the past 6 years of freelancing, I’ve learned a lot of lessons. And the most important lesson is to never put all your eggs in one basket.
You could have a $5k retainer client, think you’re fine, and then, poof, they don’t need your service anymore.
That’s why I diversify my freelance income.
Here’s how I’m doing it.
I Offer Copywriting Services to Clients
The bulk of my freelance income comes from working with clients on websites, landing pages, and email copy.
Sometimes this is a retainer. Sometimes it’s just one project.
This also requires most of my time. When I’m brought on for a project, I have to research, understand the brand voice, and then write the copy.
I Offer Consulting
I also consult brands and authors on copywriting.
For 1 hour, I discuss everything I know about copywriting. The client can ask me questions about their website, landing page, writing, content marketing, or email strategy.
