The more I write, the more I realize the power of storytelling.

I also realize that the most prolific writers aren’t the best writers. The most disciplined writers are the best. When you have the discipline to continue beyond frustration and failure, you have the discipline to succeed.

This is something I’m learning to do as a writer. I know I’m far from perfect, but I’m slowly learning what it takes to stand out as a writer.

Obsess Over Your Craft

Storytelling is a craft.

Like any craft, you have to obsess over the details. Bobby Knight obsessed over his ability to coach basketball. He studied the greatest minds. And he became one of the greatest basketball coaches in college.

Storytelling is about characters, plot, motivation, and more. It doesn’t need to be a fairy tale, it just needs to be interesting. Capture the attention of your reader.

Discipline Over Talent

My favorite thing about writing is that it takes discipline.
