When you learn to write hooks, you learn to capture attention.

Writing better hooks will change the way you write. You’ll find better ways to write social media posts and Medium articles. A good hook convinces the reader that your story is worth reading.

After years of struggling to write hooks, I’ve found a strategy that I’ve used over and over again. This strategy helps me get past the dreaded blank page.

Here’s my strategy for writing better hooks.

Study The Top Creators

When you study the top creators, you’re learning how they write. You’re learning how they capture and keep attention.

Never assume that the top creators are the top creators because of pure luck. They’ve done the work. They know how to hook your attention. They’ve practiced over and over. Now you have to do the same.

For LinkedIn, this is what I do to find better hooks

  • Go to the creator's LinkedIn profile
  • Look at their best-performing posts
  • Write down the hooks they use to write posts
