The Life of a Sports Fan Without Sports
What is there to do when there are no sports?
How do you live and breathe sports without sports?
That’s the question I’ve asked myself ever since the NBA postponed the season until the pandemic is over or safe enough to play without fans.
As an avid NBA fan, a mediocre NFL and MLB fan, and a non-existent NHL fan, I miss sports. I miss watching the best players compete against the best players. I miss the highlights. I miss it all.
I understand safety first. I’m praying that everyone is safe during this pandemic.
But since this pandemic has halted sports, it has left me wondering “how do we enjoy sports without sports?”
Do we rewatch ESPN NBA playoff games from 1990 to 2019? Do we swipe through highlights on Instagram? Do we read cookie-cutter articles on who the greatest 7-ft NBA player is or what-if trade scenarios in the NBA?
But there’s more to sports besides out-of-context quotes and rehashed articles.
There more to sports that fans don’t realize. There are more stories. There are more stories from the fan’s perspective.
