Building a writing habit is one of the most powerful things you can do in life.

It empowers you to express yourself. And you’re compounding your ideas over time. If you’re like me, the challenge is getting started. Keeping momentum. Having the right mindset.

I like to stay focused and remember the underrated way of writing. It reminds me of why I write.

Two Overrated Ways of Writing

Finding the perfect time and place to write is impossible.

There will never be a perfect moment to start writing. You can’t rely on inspiration or innate talent.

The inspiration to write

Inspiration is spontaneous. We can’t ask for it. We can’t capture it and decide when to let it out.

Inspiration isn’t planned. It comes from the magic of living life. The more you write, the more you capture inspiration.

The talent to write

Talent doesn’t make the writer. Hard work makes the writer.

A lot of people have outstanding talent. And yet they don’t ever do anything with that talent. They don’t put in the work. They don’t up in the hours…
