One of my favorite books is Amusing Ourselves to Death by Neil Postman.
In his 1985 book, Postman talks about how entertainment is the new medium compared to books. He talks about how the “medium is the metaphor.”
In other words, the way a message is presented affects the message itself.
But why do I talk about Postman? Why is this book important?
Because with all the chatter on technology and AI and how it influences writing, we need a reminder that we control the narrative. We control how much we want to think and write.
