Wake up. Drink coffee. Begin writing.

Sometimes it’s not that simple. Writing sometimes takes a lot of prep work, at least for some of us. It takes research, outlining, and editing.

For me, it’s wake up, drink coffee, and brainstorm ideas and experiences I could write about. Then I write something. Edit. Write some more. Edit some more. Back and forth. And back and forth.

Although it’s a process, I truly love writing about my ideas and experiences. I love writing about it because it’s about my personal ideas and experiences.

And that’s the key to becoming a better writer. You have to write for yourself. You have to write about what you care about, the ideas and experiences that are in your life. Those things are unique to you.

Now you have to figure out how to think about your ideas and experiences so you can write about them.

Your Ideas Are Non-Linear

Christopher Nolan has some of the best movies, mostly because he tells amazing stories. Some of his stories are non-linear. They don’t go from A to Z. They go from X, M, A, and then Z.
